- 30 junio, 2026
Fundación Universitaria María Cano reaffirmed its commitment to health, sports, and social outreach through its active participation in the 2026 Pan American Athletics Championships, held in Medellín from June 26 to 28. Through its Physiotherapy Program, the Institution placed the knowledge, expertise, and talent of its students and faculty at the service of athletes competing in one of the most important sporting events on the continent.

During the championship, advanced-level Physiotherapy students, under the supervision of faculty members, provided specialized care before, during, and after the competitions, supporting physical recovery processes, injury prevention, and the overall well-being of participating athletes. This experience strengthened the practical training of future professionals while contributing to the comprehensive care of high-performance athletes from across the Americas.
For three days, Medellín became the center of continental athletics as it hosted this official competition sanctioned by World Athletics, bringing together more than 500 athletes from 32 countries at the recently renovated Alfonso Galvis Duque Athletics Stadium. Within this international setting, María Cano’s participation demonstrated the Institution’s ability to contribute to high-level sporting events by supporting health promotion and athletic performance through academic expertise.

Beyond its academic and professional value, participation in the championship reflects Fundación Universitaria María Cano’s commitment to social responsibility and community well-being. By integrating education, practice, and service, the Institution ensures that knowledge developed in the classroom generates a meaningful impact across diverse social settings.

Experiences such as this strengthen the comprehensive education of students, promote learning in real-world environments, and reinforce the role of higher education as a key contributor to the advancement of sports, health, and collective well-being. Through initiatives like these, María Cano continues to demonstrate that academic excellence is also expressed through service, support, and social transformation.
