The Vice Chancellor of Extension and Social Projection of the María Cano University Foundation, Carlos Julio Escobar Noreña, and the Head of International Relations, Tatiana Isabel Fontalvo Grueso, paid a visit to the Research and Development University in the city of Bucaramanga, capital of the department of Santander, in order to strengthen the relationship between both institutions within the framework of a day of exchange of good practices for the internationalization of higher education; in which topics related to strategies for the promotion of academic mobility, academic and scientific cooperation, the internationalization of research, double international degree programs, internationalization of the curriculum, internationalization at home and multilingualism were addressed.
During the visit, they had the opportunity to take a tour of the UDI facilities and learn about different academic references for the improvement of institutional processes. From the UDI, the rector Jairo Augusto Castro Castro and the director of the Office of International and Interinstitutional Relations, Martha Cecilia Guarnizo García, accompanied the leaders of María Cano, in an integral manner, throughout the day.
In its institutional mission, the Research and Development University emphasizes that it is «committed to the quality of higher education, its purpose is to train comprehensive professionals with universal and critical thinking, from the concepts of Man, Society, Education and Development, which through science, research and technology contribute to the human, economic and social development of the region and the country; ethical and responsible professionals, with capacities for entrepreneurship, leadership, creativity, innovation, passion for intelligent work; connoisseurs and respectful of constitutional principles, human rights, the value of words and people».
Currently, the UDI has academic programs at the professional technical, technological, university and postgraduate levels (specializations and master’s degrees), in the different fields of action of science, technology, humanities, art and philosophy, in face-to-face and virtual methodologies; through the faculties of Engineering, Social and Human Sciences, Communication, Arts and Design, as well as Economic, Administrative and Accounting Sciences.
