Cultural exchange between María Cano and Binghamton University
- 18 noviembre, 2019

On November 14th, students from the Business Administration program at English level II participated in a cultural exchange activity with students of the Spanish Club of Binghamton University. The video conference was attended by 15 students from María Cano and 60 students from Binghamton University, New York State, UStA. The main purpose of the practice was to exchange languages and cultures between both groups. The meeting had two moments: in the first one the students of each university prepared the questions that were going to be asked, both in English and Spanish; in the second moment, the exchange of questions and answers in English and Spanish took place, which motivated the students to use the language of their learning process. The exchange lasted approximately one hour.
“The tutoring activity with people from another country to interact in both both English and Spanish is something really new; it helps us change our perspectives on the language, lose our fear and improve our quality by listening to them in their language. I think it is something that should be done more often because it is very new and helps us a lot to let go when speaking in English. It is something that must be taken into account in future occasions and further improve the subject”, says the student Arley Mesa Marín who participated in the activity.
This activity was in charge of the Language Center of the María Cano University Foundation and was led by the English teacher Ivonne Molano Bonett and Keno Burckhardt who was an exchange student at María Cano during the 2019-I semester.
