LEAMOS, recognize the importance of the story in the development of literary writing skills, therefore, we are very excited to invite the María Cano community to participate in our second story contest «Letras Escalofriantes en la María Cano».
Story theme: Halloween-inspired stories.
Participant profile: Students from all undergraduate and graduate programs, collaborators, graduates and family members of the María Cano community, from all venues, may participate.
To participate in this contest, it should be noted that the application period runs from October 8 to 27. The stories submitted must contain the following requirements: only one story per person may be submitted and must guarantee that the submitted works are of their own, in addition to submitting an original and unpublished work (Halloween story), written in Spanish, that has not been awarded or has previously participated in any other contest.
In addition, the file of the participating work must be presented with the following characteristics: present it in PDF format, the cover of the work must only contain the full name of the author, the pseudonym and the name of the work; The page must be letter size, the 12-point Calibri font and single spacing, the story must have an extension of at least 500 and a maximum of 750 words and the files must be saved as follows: full name, pseudonym – name of the work (example: Juliana Vargas Núñez, Night – The darkest night).
Within the evaluation criteria, the following characteristics will be taken into account: structural elements (beginning, middle and end, characters, places, actions), creativity, orthographic elements, cohesion and coherence of ideas, and that the story is aligned to the theme.
For this reason LEAMOS through their social networks, the campaign “Let’s read does not let your story die” began on October 8 to support the process of creating the writings.
It consists of publications with topics such as: types of narrators, characteristics of a narrative text, tips for writer’s block, use of dialogue scripts, word synonyms, types of endings, and tips for writers.
General aspects: La María Cano receives the right to use the selected and awarded stories. The author empowers them to publish, edit or expose them with their respective credit, this does not mean that there is an alienation of the intellectual and patrimonial rights of the authors, who continue to retain ownership of their stories.
Those interested in participating in the short story contest may send their writings to the email: leamos@fumc.edu.co
