UNESCO believes that early childhood care and education (ECCE) must be much more than basic preparation for primary school. The literature shows us that the period established between birth and eight years of age is a unique stage in children’s brain development, giving us the opportunity to turn it into a truly inclusive education, being the basis for physical, emotional and throughout life, becoming a role model, since it would be possible to promote gender equality, the development of their identity and the meaning and meaning of their life through experiences with their natural environment with values and the human quality that our children need.
The speech therapy and physiotherapy programs of the Neiva campus reach the educational institutions of the city with a new bet from research with the project: «Relationship between locomotor skills, attention, and reading acquisition in children from 5 to 6 years old» , the purpose of this project is to have an initial diagnosis of how the development of the child is linked to the Public Educational Institutions of the city of Neiva, especially children in the transition grade, in order to evaluate the four dimensions important for development: gross motor, adaptive fine motor, language hearing, social personnel, it seeks to see if there is a relationship between the development process with the reading acquisition process, counting for this with professionals of speech therapy, psychology and physiotherapy; With the results of this study, it is sought to have a diagnosis on motor development, attention processes and how they can influence the acquisition of reading, in order to implement a program that allows improving phonological awareness so that these children Once they are promoted to their grade, they must first have the fundamental bases of the reading process. Being a novel strategy that will allow to establish a real diagnosis in front of the motor and attention needs vs needs in the acquisition of reading of children. The results of this project contribute to the educational sector, enabling the implementation of educational programs within the framework of educational and public health policies, which include the prior evaluation of motor skills, attention, and reading processes as an important factor in the contribution of educational quality.
With the development and implementation of the strategies and programs of this research, the Departmental Development Plan «Huila crece» is strengthened in the education sector where holistic development is related to achieve an education for the being, with quality, relevant, inclusive and equitable, promoting complete educational trajectories through the promotion of the integral development of children, adolescents and young people, demonstrable in their social interaction; given that reading is one of the areas with the lowest performance in the last four years in the department of Huila (Gobernación del Huila, 2020).
It gives students the opportunity to live a significant experience from the research hotbeds where they work articulately with the research project from each of the areas, applying the Abbreviated Scale of Development version 3 (EAD – 3), whose purpose is to identify early, the risk of delays in the development of Spanish-speaking Colombian boys and girls up to 7 years of age. In general, developmental delay is a term used to assess a child who does not reach developmental milestones expected for their age, even after accounting for the wide variation from normality. (Health, 2016).
The EAD allows evaluation in relation to the following structure: gross motor, adaptive fine motor, hearing, language, social personnel, which introduces the evaluation of newborns under one month of age and the evaluation of boys or girls between 6 and 7 years of age, preserving the structure of four areas with three indicators for each age range, actions carried out by the teachers and students of the speech therapy programs that were in charge of the hearing-language area, the motor areas by the teachers and students of physiotherapy, the social area by psychology teachers, work that allowed the integration of the disciplines showing the importance of the comprehensive approach to children.
In the same way, the students of the seedbeds strengthen their investigative process knowing the health trends in Colombia and in the world, as is the development of this project that contributes to the political, technical and management foundations of the public policy «De zero to forever”, where there is a conception of boys and girls as beings subject to rights, social and singular beings and therefore diverse. (Health, 2016).
