Gamification in Mariacanovirtual: the path to the Latam Digital Awards 2023

The head of virtuality at the María Cano University Foundation, Claudia Patricia Vásquez Lopera, represented the Mariacanovirtual team and the Institution in the Webinar called: «Gamification: Immersive classrooms and emerging learning», organized by the Continuing Education Network of Latin America and Europe – RECLA, which is a university cooperation organization that aims to generate spaces for debate and reflection around the trends, projections and future of continuing education, strengthen the management processes of the continuing education units of its associates, promote the design and development of cooperation programs among its associates, with other networks and organizations in the higher education sector; while contributing by facilitating networking and internationalization, sharing experiences and good practices and providing access to new knowledge, all within a framework of coexistence of people and institutions that ensure powerful long-term ties.
The presentation was attended by more than 170 participants and the journey that the institution has had in the implementation of gamification through digital resources and through classrooms on the virtual educational platform was shared. The socialization work was carried out through gamified interactive multimedia, being consistent with the theme and taking the participant step by step until they knew how to obtain the final prize. It is important to highlight that in the latest version of the Latam Digital Awards 2023, a total of 19 Latin American countries participated with 1,370 digital transformation projects and only 270 in different categories were chosen as the best among participants from Colombia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Chile , Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. In addition, there was the presence of the USA, Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Spain, Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala. The María Cano University Foundation applied in the category “Best educational institution digital strategy, with the project: Gamified classrooms in a virtual learning environment” of the Mariacanovirtual campus, being chosen as the winner at the gala that took place at the El Nogal Club in Bogotá, the night of Friday, June 23 of this year.
