Graduate and student achieve double underwater rugby world title for Colombia

Between July 7 and 15, the national delegation managed to occupy first place in the championship of the twelfth edition of the underwater rugby world championship that was held in the city of Montreal, Canada. Colombia had a brilliant performance in the two branches in dispute, the female and the male, the national team took both titles; On the one hand, the women won the final against Norway 1-0, while the men’s team beat Germany with the same result.
The men’s team also revalidated the world title and ratified its good sporting moment as the best underwater rugby team in the world, with athletes from the María Cano label: Manuel Celis Muñoz, an eighth-semester student in the physiotherapy program, and Héctor José Escobar Suárez, a graduate of the same academic program, who was the protagonist of the day by scoring the only goal in the final, ensuring Colombia’s fourth title in this sport.
María Cano athletes contribute to the development of their own skills and that of the team, achieving an exemplary discipline by applying the fundamentals obtained in academic training, strengthening concentration and self-care, which allows them to quickly and practically identify weaknesses, and strengths in the technical and physical part for better sports performance.
