- 4 noviembre, 2022

For the María Cano University Foundation it is a great source of joy to be able to show that the graduates fully comply with their dreams, goals and personal objectives; This is the case of the physiotherapist Sebastián Sánchez, a 23-year-old young man from Cali, distinguished in the discipline of triathlon, a vocation that motivated him to obtain his professional title at the Institution. In this way he began his career as a professional in the sports area, his talent and discipline have led him to conquer and explore different areas of sport, allowing him to be a reference in sports shooting and being six-time champion of that discipline.
Talent and organization are the main attributes that frame the achievements obtained, in the rigorous path that this young graduate has undertaken, he is currently part of the Valle Selection and Colombia Selection of sports shooting. His profession as a physiotherapist contributes, in an integral way, to the development of his skills, achieving sports awareness by applying the fundamentals obtained in academic training, strengthening his concentration and self-care, which allows him to quickly and practically identify weaknesses, and strengths in the technical and physical part of their sports performance.
Now Sebastián Sánchez is taking on one of his greatest challenges, representing Colombia in the World ChampionshipCairo, EGY, where the dream of winning the world cup has been outlined. It is important to remember that sport shooting is a precision sport, which means that it is about aiming at a target and ensuring that the greatest number of shots hit the highest area. The modality of the athlete and graduate of María Cano is the air pistol at 10 meters, which means that the projectile is propelled by compressed air and the target is at that distance from the shooter.
Sebastian’s sporting achievements are:
- 2019: Departmental Games (2 gold medals and 2 silver medals).
- 2021: Valid National (1 gold medal for teams).
- 2021: Republic of Colombia Championship (1 men’s team gold medal, 1 mixed team silver medal and 1 individual bronze medal).
- 2022: National Championship (1 mixed team gold medal, 1 men’s team gold medal and 1 individual silver medal).
- 2022: Valid National (1 men’s team gold).
