- 9 noviembre, 2023

The graduates of the María Cano University Foundation, Cali headquarters, Lizeth Dayana Noreña and Valeria Sanclemente Cardoza, from the Physiotherapy program, have presented a series of research works of great relevance in the clinical field. The projects, titled «Compensatory mechanisms at a systemic level in patients with persistent arterial trunk», «Protocols and effects of mechanical ventilation in prone position in pediatric patients» and «Out-of-hospital pulmonary rehabilitation in adult patients with pulmonary fibrosis due to covid-19» were presented within the framework of the II Teaching Service Integration Conference and the I Research Day of the Hospital Universitario del Valle.
The first work: «Compensatory mechanisms at a systemic level in patients with persistent arterial trunk», product of the degree work of physiotherapist Lizeth Noreña, provides an illuminating perspective on the mechanisms of systemic compensation in patients who suffer from persistent arterial trunk, thus representing a essential advance in the understanding and approach to this complex clinical condition in pediatric patients without surgical correction.
The study «Protocols and effects of mechanical ventilation in the prone position in pediatric patients» for its part, delves into the investigation of the protocols and effects of mechanical ventilation in pediatric patients who are in the prone position. This approach has the potential to generate a highly significant impact on the care provided to patients, improving their quality of life and recovery.
Regarding the research titled «Out-of-hospital pulmonary rehabilitation in adult patients with pulmonary fibrosis due to covid-19», its relevance is magnified in the context of the pandemic, since it focuses on the pulmonary rehabilitation of adult patients who have developed pulmonary fibrosis as a consequence. of COVID-19. This therapeutic approach contributes greatly to restoring the quality of life of these individuals, being a clear example of how clinical research can have a positive impact on the rehabilitation and recovery of outpatients.
The research constitutes a valuable contribution to the clinical field, and demonstrates its dedication and excellence in clinical research. These works have been an outstanding example of collaboration between academia and the clinical field, and have been carried out under the direction of PhD(c) José Luis Estela Zape, which underlines their importance and relevance in the field of clinical physiology.
