A great tennis player to admire and respect

Yuliana Yovana Monroy Betancur, a student of the Physiotherapy program at the Medellín campus, participated in the Match Play Teleantioquia for Field Tennis that took place this weekend in the municipality of Carmen de Viboral; The purpose of the activity was to carry out a pilot for the reactivation of this sports practice in the country and counted with the participation of university players from Paisa: 4 belonging to North American institutions and 2 to IES in the Antioquia capital; Yuliana being the only woman in this tournament thanks to her UTR ranking that allows the equal participation of men and women in tennis.
The result of the competitive weekend placed her in second place, winning the number one university student in the country and champion of both ASCUN tournaments at the national level.
Yuliana’s professional life began at age 6 and she has dedicated 15 of her 21 years to white sport, participating in the South American Tennis Tournament, where she qualified for the World Cup in 2013, reaching the second round. Likewise, she has been runner-up in two B1 grade tournaments that are among the most outstanding ITFs. It is important to note that the young athlete spent several years as number one in Colombia in the categories of 14, 16 and 18 years; as well as its classification in the ITF Ranking achieving 69th place in the world. In 2019 he managed to win a Class A Professional Tournament and two Class C Professional Tournaments in Medellín.
He is currently a student of the Physiotherapy program and is preparing to start his third semester, where he feels that the academy contributes to his professional career with a view to developing the physical theme and dreams of being able to help people in their health care.Yuliana highlights her dream of being number one in sports in the world; to which he hopes to contribute by being part in 2021 of the first 500 athletes in the WTA ranking and number one in Colombia.
