- 15 septiembre, 2025

As part of its 38 years of institutional history and 30 years of presence in Huila, the Fundación Universitaria María Cano – Neiva campus was recognized by the House of Representatives of the Colombian Congress with a commendation that highlights its commitment to the educational, social, and economic development of the southern region of the country. This tribute represents a valuable acknowledgment of the institutional efforts that have made it possible to provide quality higher education to students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
With more than 1,000 graduates and over 10,000 beneficiaries of social projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), María Cano has established itself as a key player in the transformation of vulnerable communities in the region. Its work with diverse social sectors, the promotion of locally impactful research, and its social outreach model reaffirm the institution’s commitment to comprehensive, relevant, and inclusive education.
The Foundation expresses its gratitude to the Congress of the Republic for this important recognition, especially to Dr. Víctor Andrés Tovar Trujillo, Secretary of the Legal Accounts Commission of the House of Representatives, who presented the commendation to Dr. Diana María Salazar Rojas, Institutional Director of the Neiva campus. This achievement is also the result of the effort and commitment of the entire academic, administrative, and student community who, day by day, make possible the goal of continuing to train professionals who actively contribute to the well-being of Huila and the country.
