The Public Accounting program of the María Cano University Foundation, attached to the Faculty of Business Sciences, carried out this important academic activity that had the participation of national and international lecturers, in addition to a massive participation of national and foreign students and professors in quality of assistants. Event that was configured as a space for conversation and reflection around the importance of accounting in society and organizations, addressing the specific issues of accounting, sustainability, unconventional subjects of law, IFRS and fraud, which served to leave in the assistants many reflections about the importance of the work and of the accounting research in the theoretical and practical development of science.
In this vein, the event reiterated the power to place accounting in the university public sphere as an ethical-political exercise necessary to question accounting practices, regulations, technologies and theories, and their location and impact on the organizations and in society allowing to generate a reflection not only critically, but also the power to rethink and transform praxis, generate new knowledge and training and research intentions aimed at sowing concerns and being aware of the function and social responsibility of knowledge and accounting practice.
The keynote presentations were given by the PhD. Gyomar Pérez on behalf of Ecuador, who spoke at the conference entitled «The unconventional subjects of law and the typologies of accounting fraud»; likewise was the PhD. Lina Marcela Sánchez Vásquez from Colombia, who spoke on «Theoretical and methodological scaffolding of accounting for sustainability», where both theoretical and practical reflections revolved around sustainability, the importance of the environment and fraud.
Also present, in virtual form, were the speakers: PhD. Miguel Ángel Cervantes Penados from Mexico, with the conference entitled «Owners and shareholders as elements of financial fraud»; and Mgr. Diego Fernando Duque Ramírez (Colombia) who gave the conference whose title was: Is IFRS really a challenge ?, lectures that made the attendees expand their concepts and visions about fraud and IFRS.
Likewise, it is important to highlight that, according to attendance records, in Colombia there was the participation of students and teachers from different municipalities of Antioquia, Córdoba, Tolima and at an international level from Mexico and Ecuador. This important international event, around the quality processes that are being carried out in the Public Accounting program, allows consolidating the relationship between the research, internationalization and teaching processes, which point to more and more students receiving a quality education with an international vision for a world-class quality program.
The Public Accounting program had the participation of professors: Natalia Gallón and Mario Heimer Flórez Guzmán.
