Impact publication on research #MásMaríaCano

The María Cano University Foundation with its researchers María Helena Audor González, Piedad Roció Lerma Castaño and Elizabeth Roldán González from the Neiva and Popayán campuses; they publish an investigative article again and continue to contribute to the mission of the institution, to train people with critical thinking, social commitment and a glocal vision; always taking into account the institutional principles that guarantee educational work for the well-being of the community.
The publication in is the result of the young researchers and innovators project of the Department of Huila 2019, promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation – Minciencias; the article entitled «Benefits of physical exercise in overweight and obese children in Neiva – Huila, Colombia»; was published in the Risaralda Medical journal, which is indexed in SciELO Colombia (Scientific Electronic Library Online), in the index of Latin American Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), in the Network of Scientific Journals of Latin America and the Caribbean , Spain and Portugal (RedALYC), and is part of the National Index of Colombian Scientific and Technological Serial Publications of Colciencias (PUBLINDEX).
The text presents a reflection on the main causes of childhood overweight, the impact produced by the confinement caused by the covid-19 pandemic, the benefits in boys and girls are listed when performing some physical activity and talk about the childhood overweight and obesity as a silent pandemic that can be prevented. This work is important because it reflects, once again, the social service of the Institution, by putting the knowledge of professionals at the service of society.
In this way, María Cano continues to encourage research and confirms her process of contributing to the health care of all members of the community.
