In Pitalito, Huila, more relationships to bring education to the community

In the plan to encourage relations actions with the external sector, the María Cano University Foundation, Neiva headquarters, carried out an academic and administrative work mission to the municipality of Pitalito, in the department of Huila. This important population in southwestern Colombia has more than 135 thousand inhabitants, according to the census carried out by DANE in 2019, and has an area of 653 square kilometers.
It is the second most populated municipality in the department of Huila and is considered the largest coffee producer in Colombia, it is a place of convergence of municipalities in the south of the country such as Acevedo, San Agustín, Isnos, Saladoblanco Oporapa, Elías and Timaná and close to other regional poles such as Garzón, Altamira, Pital, Agrado and Gigante.
The mission was led by the Coordinator of the Neiva Headquarters Diana Salazar Rojas and by the Vice-Rector of Extension and Social Projection of María Cano, Carlos Julio Escobar Noreña, who were received by the mayor of that town, Edgar Muñoz Torres. Similarly, during the visit to the municipality of, independent meetings were held with the Secretary of Education; Carlos Alberto Martín Salinas; and with the Ministry of Culture, where the needs and priorities of the administration in academic areas and continuous training were analyzed for the benefit of this Colombian population and its inhabitants.
