The students of the clinical practice of the María Cano University Foundation in the capital of Cauca, articulated with the health promotion and maintenance program of the IPS Nueva Popayán, dress in pink in the month of awareness of the fight against breast cancer, through a massive yoga activity, with the participation of the users and employees of the IPS Nueva Popayán with the motto «Touch yourself, join and prevent»

On this subject, National Geographic highlights on its website: «Breast cancer is one of the most frequent tumors among women. The International Center for Research on Cancer (IARC), an intergovernmental organization that forms part of the World Health Organization (WHO), indicates that the incidence of the disease is, on average, 2.3 million new cases per year worldwide.

According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), there were more than 210 thousand new diagnoses in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2020. This organization also points out that breast cancer is the most common cause of death from cancer in women and the fifth most common cause of cancer death overall».

It is for this reason that María Cano contributes, from the knowledge of her university community, with activities for health care and disease prevention in the southwest of Colombia.
