- 27 septiembre, 2021

Directors of the María Cano University Foundation received a visit from the Senator of the Republic of Colombia, Iván Darío Agudelo Zapata, who shared his knowledge about the Innovation District of Medellín, which is an interesting and timely process that involves the capital of Antioquia in a process of social, urban and economic transformation, especially in the northern sector of the city with an evolution towards the generation of an innovation ecosystem that concentrates different members of the community: citizens, entrepreneurial entrepreneurs, companies, organizations and institutions within the knowledge economy, seeking its participation in joint projects and allowing Medellín to become the Innovation Capital of Latin America.
The Senator who visited María Cano, Iván Darío Agudelo Zapata, is a lawyer from the University of Medellín with a specialization in business law. He was a full professor at his house of studies between 1998 and 2006, as well as an advisor to the Antioquia government between 1998 and 2003. In the period between 2003 and 2006 he was a delegate personer for the guardianship and protection of Human Rights, before the Attorney General’s Office. In 2007 he was elected deputy of Antioquia for the period 2008-2012, in July 2009 he resigned his seat to aspire to the House of Representatives and later to the Senate of the Republic.
The Innovation District and its impact on higher education is projected as a laboratory of life, education, culture, entrepreneurship and business. It has outstanding organizations that are present in the capital of Antioquia, with special emphasis on education, research, data analysis, social projection, science, technology, recreation and citizen well-being.
