Professor Nelson Andrés Andrade Bonilla participated, on behalf of the Cali-based María Cano University Foundation, as one of the main speakers at the prestigious event of the University of Panama known as «Coffee and Academy Tuesday» attached to the Central American Institute of Administration and Supervision of Education. On this occasion, the academic activity was developed in a hybrid format, allowing both face-to-face and virtual participation, in which university students from Panama, Colombia, Honduras and Peru were present, with the central theme «Artificial intelligence, risks and challenges for education».

The professor, recognized for his knowledge in IT and telecommunications management, opened the conference cycle, indicating that higher education faces unprecedented challenges due to the rapid advance of artificial intelligence. In addition, he mentioned that these types of issues are linked to three key dimensions: the use of AI tools in the classroom, learning about AI and its technologies, as well as the need for the entire educational community to be prepared to understand and address the implications of AI on human life. He also highlighted the importance of establishing an ethical framework that facilitates the adoption and learning of AI in all its dimensions.

It is important to note that the objective of the aforementioned academic event was to foster an enriching environment in which students, professionals, academics, and the general public could share ideas and discuss both national and international challenges, covering social, economic, and political areas, and They guide the search for innovative solutions that promote the progress and well-being of society as a whole. In this context, the participation of teacher Nelson Andrade was highly significant and greatly contributed to the prestige of María Cano at a regional, national and international level.

The debate was moderated by Dr. Abril Méndez Chang, who coordinates the «Coffee and Academy Tuesdays» of the University of Panama, which is held monthly and is aimed at researchers, professors and students, bringing together academic experts, technicians and members of society in general to address issues of importance and current challenges facing humanity.
