- 9 octubre, 2026
The Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Cali Campus, officially presented its Specialization in Disability and Inclusion, a program designed to train qualified, ethical, and compassionate professionals capable of contributing to care, analysis, intervention, and research processes related to disability. Its academic approach is grounded in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and seeks to promote the recognition of rights and the participation of this population in different areas of society.
The event featured invited experts who shared their knowledge and experience on disability and inclusion. Among them were Juan Manuel Collazos, a physician with a master’s degree in Epidemiology, currently pursuing a master’s degree in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, and a National Disability Councilor; María Isabel Pinzón Ochoa, a professor in the Physiotherapy program at Universidad de Santander (UDES) and National Coordinator of the Colombian Network of Higher Education Institutions for Disability; and Jorge Andrés Ortiz, a physiotherapist who graduated from the Escuela Nacional del Deporte, a specialist in disability, physical education, recreation, and adapted sports, with postgraduate studies in Paralympic sport at Universidad Santiago de Cali.
With the presentation of this program, the Cali Campus expands its postgraduate educational offerings in a field that requires professionals prepared to identify barriers, develop intervention strategies, and contribute to building more inclusive environments. This academic space brings together different professional perspectives to strengthen understanding of disability and promote practices that foster participation, accessibility, and the exercise of the rights of persons with disabilities.
