Fundación Universitaria María Cano continues to strengthen student learning through academic experiences that connect future professionals with real-world environments and the challenges of today’s business and technology sectors. On this occasion, Software Engineering students visited EPM’s Intelligent Building, one of Colombia’s leading technological landmarks.

The activity, carried out as part of the IT Management and Innovation course, allowed students to gain firsthand insight into how technology supports strategic processes within large-scale organizations. During the visit, participants toured the facilities and explored key aspects of the technological infrastructure that enables the operation of essential services.

The experience provided practical knowledge of critical topics such as information management, service continuity, cybersecurity, and the role of data centers in digital transformation. These insights complement classroom learning while strengthening the skills required in an increasingly dynamic and interconnected professional environment.

Beyond software development, the visit helped students understand how technological solutions are integrated with infrastructure, organizational processes, and institutional goals to address real-world needs.
