María Cano hosts key visit for Nursing program in Popayán

On March 26 and 27, 2026, María Cano University Foundation welcomes academic peer reviewers from the Ministry of National Education, Claudia Andrea Ramírez Perdomo and Dolly Orfilia Arias Torres, to its Popayán campus as part of the process to obtain official accreditation for the undergraduate Nursing program in this important city in southwestern Colombia.
This process is part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its undergraduate academic offerings across its different faculties and reflects its continuous commitment to quality in academic processes.
During the visit, meetings will be held with institutional leaders, students, faculty members, alumni, employers, the general community, and prospective students who are already expressing interest in the program. In addition, the agenda includes campus tours of academic and practice facilities, along with comprehensive presentations of the program’s academic and administrative components.

Claudia Andrea Ramírez Perdomo is a Nurse, Specialist in Critical Care, Master’s degree in Nursing, and doctoral-level training in Nursing. She has extensive experience in teaching, program leadership, academic management, and research, as well as clinical experience in high-complexity care settings. She is recognized for her academic and research leadership and her expertise in nursing care and professional education. She currently serves as Vice President for Research and Social Outreach at Universidad Surcolombiana.
Dolly Orfilia Arias Torres is a Nurse with doctoral training in Health Sciences. She has an outstanding career as a full university professor, with experience in teaching, research, and academic management. She has led educational and research processes at both undergraduate and graduate levels, particularly at Universidad Surcolombiana. Her profile combines academic strength, institutional experience, and significant scholarly production in the health field. She currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the same university.
