The fifth semester student of the Psychology program at the Medellín campus, Ángela María Viana Quintero, participated as a representative of the María Cano University Foundation in the First International Psychology Debate organized by the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology UMECIT – Panama, occupying third place for the best presentation on the subject: The stigmatization of people with mental illnesses. Students from Ecuador, Mexico, Argentina and Panama also participated in the academic activity to make their respective contributions on the subject. In this way, María Cano promotes spaces for the exchange of knowledge and ideas from an intercultural perspective, with the aim of training students with a glocal projection.

UMECIT was founded on December 16, 2002 and is an accredited university protected under Resolution No. 15 of October 31, 2012, of the National Council for University Evaluation and Accreditation of Panama. Likewise, it has ISO 9001:2015 certification issued by Global Group.

Participation in the academic event not only fosters in students the investigative spirit, the exchange of knowledge, but also creativity and attitudinal and aptitude growth.
