María Cano internationalizes research

Since 2020, María Cano has been linked to the Delfín program, an organization that was born in 1995 thanks to the efforts of various Higher Education Institutions and Research Centers in the Mexican Pacific region, which decided to join to strengthen scientific culture among Yes. This is how they created the Interinstitutional Program for the Strengthening of Research and Postgraduate Studies in the Pacific – Dolphin Program – significantly increasing the participation, through its subprograms, of the academic staff attached to them and of their most outstanding students.
For the summer of 2020, between June 29 and August 14, two professors from the Faculty of Health Sciences served as advisors and received international students as research assistants to support their projects:
Professor Sebastián Grajales from the Physiotherapy program accompanied three students: two from the Physiotherapy program of the Autonomous Metropolitan University: Daniela Suárez Cardona and Darlyn Natalia Oñate Guerrero, who participated in the project: Validity and Reliability of the Motivation Questionnaire for the Practice of Physical-Sports Activity in the Colombian population. And a student from the Physical Education program at the University of Guadalajara: Francisco de Jesús Eusebio Núñez in the project: Validity and Reliability of the Motivation Questionnaire for the Practice of Physical-Sports Activity in the Colombian Population. Professor Catalina Lopera Muñetón accompanied student Elizabeth Monserrat García Casillas from the Biomedical Engineering program at the University of Guadalajara in the project: Design of external breast prostheses based on the analysis of functional and ergonomic problems in women who have undergone mastectomy due to breast cancer.
For the year 2021, between June 14 and July 30, four professors from the Faculty of Health Sciences served as advisors and received international students as research assistants to support their projects. Two professors from the Speech Therapy program: María Isabel Loaiza Hernández with the student Daniela Negrete Alvarado from the National Polytechnic Institute, Mexico with the project entitled: «Health within the framework of comprehensive care in Early Childhood». Mary Luz Osorio Montoya with the students Mariana Soto Lezama and Xóchitl Guadalupe Balderas Cacho from the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla with the project entitled: “Communication and communicative disability”.
Two professors from the Physiotherapy program: Sebastián Grajales Toro and Silvia Patricia Betancur Bedoya, with students David González Domínguez and Vanessa Galilea Yolanda Navarro Martínez from the Medicine and Surgery program of the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, with the project entitled: Effectiveness of interventions of physical exercise in the physical rehabilitation processes of postcovid patients, a systematic review.
Thanks to the involvement of the students mentioned through a research internship at the institution, the visibility of the institution and the internationalization of research are contributed.
For this year, nine professors will be part of the Delfin 2022 catalog. In this way, it is expected to enhance scientific production and achieve international co-authorships as a result of work with foreign students. Here is the list of teachers:
