Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Popayán Campus, proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of Mayerli Sinisterra, a fourth-semester Physiotherapy student, who won the bronze medal at the first qualifying tournament for the “Rito Rojas Ayala” National Games, held in Bogotá from July 15 to 24. Her performance secured a place in the 2027 National Games, which will take place in Montería, Córdoba.

Representing the Cauca Boxing League, Mayerli competed in the 65-kilogram division, facing athletes from different regions of Colombia in a highly competitive tournament that brought together nine of the country’s top boxers in her category. Her performance reflected the discipline, preparation, and determination required to compete at a high-performance level.

Throughout the championship, the student faced demanding bouts, including a decisive match that tested both her physical and mental strength. Through perseverance, commitment, and competitive spirit, she earned third place and a valuable bronze medal, securing her qualification for the 2027 National Games.

Beyond the sporting achievement, Mayerli’s success highlights the ability of María Cano students to balance academic excellence with personal projects that require dedication, discipline, and resilience.
