- 27 agosto, 2025

With the goal of expanding educational opportunities and enhancing the academic development of young people in Valle del Cauca, the Fundación Universitaria María Cano, in collaboration with the Yumbo Department of Education, has launched an innovative pilot project. This initiative aims to boost the academic skills of local high school students, connecting them with undergraduate and graduate academic offerings.
The launch event featured prominent representatives from the education sector, including Ricardo Iglesias, Secretary of Education of Yumbo; Julio Perea, Principal of Colegio Mayor de Yumbo; and members of Fundación Universitaria María Cano such as Jorge Manrique, Research Coordinator, and Ingrid López, Institutional Relations Executive.
The main objective of the project is to provide students with access to higher education through the validation of prior knowledge acquired during their technical secondary education. This approach aims to strengthen the academic competencies of young people, broadening their future outlook and professional prospects. The initiative also includes the creation of a research seedbed aimed at prospective students of the Physiotherapy program, establishing a bridge between secondary and higher education.
With this initiative, Fundación Universitaria María Cano reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive development of Valle del Cauca. This partnership not only benefits students in Yumbo but also sets a precedent for strengthening the institution’s educational presence in other regions of the department. It fosters cooperation with local educational institutions and makes a significant contribution to the training of the region’s future professionals.
Fundación Universitaria María Cano continues to position itself as an educational leader committed to regional development, expanding its academic offerings and promoting access to higher education through innovative programs tailored to the specific needs of each community.
