During his visit to Huila campus, the Rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras, met with Departmental Secretary of Education, Luis Alfredo Ortiz Tovar, in which the actions of The Maria Cano in that region of the country were presented along with the projects that are led to position the institution with undergraduate and graduate programs and discussed the possibilities of establishing partnerships with the public sector through the active participation of The Maria Cano University Foundation in the Development Plan «Huila Crece». At this meeting, new work spaces were agreed that allow the articulation with the higher education of the department.

The Secretary of Education of Huila was the director of Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia in that department, Rector of Fundación Escuela Tecnológica de Neiva Jesus Oviedo Perez, a columnist for the newspaper La Nacion and a member of Humanitarian Committe of Huila, which amply proves his knowledge on the education sector and the work carried out by the academy to directly benefit the community.
