Microsoft Updates Its Educational Licensing and Modifies Access to Office
- 3 febrero, 2026
The María Cano University Foundation informs its academic community about an update in access to Microsoft productivity tools, resulting from recent global changes in educational licensing policies established by Microsoft.
As part of this update, applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook will be available under the Office 365 A1 license. This means they will no longer be available for download or installation on personal computers and will instead be accessed 100% online through a web browser at portal.office.com, anytime and from anywhere.
The institution confirms that key academic services remain fully operational, including the institutional Outlook email, cloud storage via OneDrive, real-time collaboration using Microsoft Teams, and the use of mobile applications on tablets and smartphones, in accordance with Microsoft’s terms and conditions.
To ensure continuity in academic activities, the university recommends saving and syncing important files in OneDrive and using the web-based versions of Office, which offer automatic saving and real-time collaboration tools. María Cano reaffirms its commitment to innovation and connectivity, providing tools that support learning anytime and anywhere.
