More relationship and projection in the department of Huila

The María Cano headquarters in Neiva makes approaches with national institutions and productive sectors of the South Colombian region, such as the Committee of Coffee Growers of Huila, highlighting that the department is the leader in coffee growing in the country. According to the figures, with more than a decade producing the best coffee for Colombia and the world; It is for this reason that the Neiva headquarters develops the research project «Musculoskeletal disorders associated with body composition and ergonomic risk of coffee pickers», which was approved in the Sixth Internal Call for Research Projects 2020, for its execution in the year 2021, thus managing to strengthen sectors involved with the objectives of sustainable development and the orange economy that have tools for cultural, social and economic development, contributing to Colombian agriculture.
Dr. Mauricio Salazar Cedeño participated in the meeting, who is the departmental extension leader of the Federation of Coffee Growers of Huila, and the teachers representing the project, Viviana Caicedo Delgado and Piedad Rocío Lerma Castaño. Likewise, joint work is being carried out with the Popayán de la María Cano campus and the University of Pamplona with teachers Gladys Tamayo Perdomo, Elizabeth Roldán González and Sonia Carolina Mantilla Toloza, strengthening the joint work of the discipline and the academy for the benefit of productive sectors in the region.
On its website, the Committee of Coffee Growers of Huila highlights that it represents the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC) regionally, a unique organization of its kind. Private, non-profit and union entity. Founded on June 27, 1927 by the same producers, very visionary for the time, which today represents more than 540,000 coffee-growing families in Colombia, 83 thousand of them located in Huila. The regional headquarters is located in Neiva, Huila and we have service offices in 35 coffee municipalities, distributed in 9 sections.
The main objective of the Committee is to position Huila coffee in the national and international market as a great consumer experience as it is a highly desired product by clients and final consumers due to its high quality standards and the wonderful stories behind our coffee-growing families.
