- 10 noviembre, 2023

The Pontifical Javeriana University, the University of the Andes, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the Telescopi network held in Bogotá the international seminar “Leading higher education beyond 2030. Concepts, praxis and decision-making.” The event was generated with the objective of being a space for reflection and training for managers of Higher Education Institutions (IES), which allows them to strengthen and qualify their leadership and management, at the institutional level or at the academic and administrative units, before the challenges and changes that arise in tertiary and higher education in Latin America: its tensions between its nature as a fundamental right and public service; the diversity of public policies; national and regional contexts, global dynamics characterized by their complexity and uncertainty; national and global competitive actions; the demographic, migratory, health, social, economic and political crises, and the challenges of sustainable development.
Members of the highest collegiate governing bodies, rectors, vice-rectors, deans and directors of the different academic and administrative areas of educational institutions in Colombia participated in the seminar, who shared their experiences in university management positions. First and second level leaders of public institutions and entities and public or private agencies in the field of higher education, from 10 different countries, also attended.
The academic contents of the activity were:
- The experience of university leadership. Focus on senior university management.
- HEIs as educational platforms connected to ecosystems.
- Learning throughout life.
- Flexible learning and training routes.
- Higher Education Institutions – Society: multiplier relationship.
- The challenges of economic sustainability: new sources of financing and cost strategies.
