Neiva Headquarters promotes the practice of physical activity in the population with disabilities

The María Cano University Foundation, in the capital of the department of Huila, in partnership with the program of comprehensive care for the population with disabilities of the Secretary of Social Development and Inclusion of the Mayor’s Office of Neiva, is committed to the development of the program of » Physical activity and inclusive sport in disability” under the coordination of the teacher Sergio Alejandro Quijano Duarte, assigned to the Physiotherapy program.
With this initiative, of inclusion and respect, it seeks to promote favorable inclusive environments based on different physical, recreational and sports activities that contribute to the physical and social well-being of people with disabilities in commune 6, 9 and 10 of the municipality of Neiva. Among the first scheduled activities, a cycle of workshops is carried out aimed at caregivers of people with disabilities in order to socialize the program, publicize the registration process, link requirements and provide guidance on recommendations for the practice of care. physical activity.
With these actions, the social commitment of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the María Cano University Foundation is ratified with the community, through activities that have a positive impact on their quality of life, putting at the service of people the knowledge of those who make up the different academic programs, to provide a better quality of life for the inhabitants of the different regions where the Institution is present.
Thanks to the principles of respect, equity, excellence, leadership, transparency and responsibility, María Cano responds to the proposal outlined in the institutional mission of being present in the different local, regional and national contexts, evidencing the commitment to social projection in the development of teaching, research and extension; and aimed at training people with critical thinking, social commitment and a glocal vision.
