In the Popayán de la María Cano headquarters, the induction of the III Cohort of the Specialization in Public Health was carried out, ratifying the institutional commitment with the training of the best public health specialists in the Colombian southwest. The population and epidemiological transition confronts health systems with the implementation of cutting-edge intervention strategies that respond to the needs of the environment and are operationalized from intersectoral and intercultural approaches that impact the social determinants of health. The specialization in public health focuses training towards the well-being of population groups, allowing the health professional a situational analysis from a global and contextualized vision.

In this sense, the Specialist in Public Health of the María Cano University Foundation, will have competences for the evaluation of the individual and collective health situation, the formulation, management and implementation of public policies in health and interventions in public health, according to the jurisdiction. local, national and international from various SGSSS organizations and intersectoral actions in the family and social environment, complementing curative efforts, with a significant and growing number of actions to promote and maintain health.
