New Master’s Program to Transform Health Through Movement

Fundación Universitaria María Cano officially launched its new Master’s in Physical Activity for Health, offered in a face-to-face format at its Medellín campus. This graduate program aims to train professional leaders capable of designing and implementing innovative strategies to promote overall well-being, prevent disease, and improve the quality of life in diverse communities.
This deepening-type program spans four semesters, includes 50 academic credits, and has Qualified Registration No. 012294 dated June 16, 2025, valid for seven years. The Master’s combines theoretical and practical knowledge in planning, monitoring, and evaluating programs related to physical activity, recreation, and leisure time use. Graduates will earn the title of Master in Physical Activity for Health.
As part of the launch event, a discussion panel titled «Evidence and Challenges of Physical Activity in the 21st Century» was held. This academic space addressed the main challenges in the field and highlighted the importance of training highly skilled professionals to drive public policies, programs, and interdisciplinary health projects.
The panel featured respected professionals such as Arbey Marulanda, Silvia Betancur, Johana Montoya, Javier Tutistar, and Jonathan Saldarriaga, who shared their insights and experiences in public health, education, gerontology, nutrition, and sports medicine. Their contributions emphasized the urgent need for trained master’s-level professionals to address today’s physical and mental health challenges.
Graduates of this program will be equipped to work as coordinators of epidemiological surveillance systems, leaders in health-oriented physical activity program design, researchers, university professors, or interdisciplinary health team members. Without a doubt, this new postgraduate offering reflects María Cano’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and social development.
