The Specialization in Public Health of the María Cano University Foundation, at the Popayán headquarters, continues to strengthen the postgraduate training process to respond to the current challenges of the territorial and national context. On this occasion, epidemiologist Claudia Marcela Muñoz Lozada from the Public Health Surveillance and Risk Analysis Directorate of the National Institute of Health, guided the Public Health Surveillance subject, which aims to analyze the health situation and plan public health actions based on of the tools of the SIVIGILA Public Health Surveillance System, which has been awarded internationally.
Dr. Claudia Muñoz has a master’s degree in Public Health from the Javeriana University, a Field Epidemiologist from the Advance FETP Colombia National Health Institute, a specialist in Epidemiology from the Juan N. Corpas University Foundation; specialist in Public Health Management from the Universidad del Rosario; while also having pedagogical training in Technology and Computer Science from the Minuto de Dios University. His areas of work and recognition are: field epidemiology and public health with experience in public health surveillance, SIVIGILA public health surveillance system; attention to outbreaks and emergency situations, research and publication in epidemiology and public health, teaching experience in virtual and in-person training.
The Specialization in Public Health of the María Cano University Foundation will generate competencies for the graduate to evaluate the individual and collective health situation, the formulation, management and implementation of public health policies and public health interventions, according to the local jurisdiction. national and international from various organizations of the S.G.S.S.S. and intersectoral actions in the family and social environment, complementing curative efforts with a significant and growing number of actions to promote and maintain health.
