Participation in IT Talent Immersion Marathon

A group of twenty students from different semesters, from the Software Engineering program of the María Cano University Foundation in Medellín, participated in the IT Talent Immersion Marathon event, organized by the Colombian Federation of Software and Information Technologies, Fedesoft, in alliance with the ICT Ministry and the Network of Systems Engineering and Related Programs – Redis. On this occasion, the students visited the company IAS Software, a company dedicated to software development, digital product design, QA testing and digital product designs with ODOO. In the activity they were able to learn about the company, the software development methodologies and receive training to strengthen their soft skills.
The IT immersion talent marathon seeks to revolutionize the relationship between education and the technology industry in Colombia, it is a proposal that seeks to unite students of software and IT programs and companies in the field of technology and software, with in order to strengthen the educational and business training of the country. This activity, which was carried out simultaneously in different cities of the country, in commemoration of Software Developer’s Day, aims to offer IT career students a real experience in the world of work through their participation in leading companies. of the software and IT industry.
This academic event brings together more than 52 representative companies from the technology sector nationwide; It has the support of the Ministry of ICT and iNNpulsa and leading ambassador companies in the industry: Branch of Inversoft Group Colombia LLC – HelpPeople; Localized Information – Servinformacion y Sistemas de Información Empresarial S.A – SIESA. These companies seek to promote the development of specialized technological talent for growth and innovation as essential drivers for the country’s competitiveness.
The director of the Software Engineering program at the María Cano University Foundation, Silvia Marcela Henao Villa, indicates on this topic: «It is important to generate rapprochements between the university and the company and this type of activities allows students to learn about the work environment of software development companies, the development methodologies they apply, as well as the soft and professional skills required by the IT industry.
The activity was led by Fedesoft, the Colombian Federation of the Software Industry and Related Computer Technologies, a union organization with more than 30 years of experience that works to strengthen the national software industry, so that it is competitive, recognized, and successful. in the international environment; which works on the development of public policies, the promotion of training and competitiveness of firms in the sector, the generation of specialized sector information and the exploration of global opportunities that position Colombia as a world-class technology provider.
