Participation in the Global Big Day

In an exciting day of bird watching, a group of students from the Speech Therapy and Physiotherapy programs of the María Cano University Foundation, Neiva campus, participated in the Global Big Day, which is an annual event that aims to involve people from all over the world. world in bird watching and habitat conservation. This year, people from more than 170 countries participated, and more than 10,000 bird species were recorded from around the world.
The students, led by Karla Yaneth Mora Bonilla, professor of Environmental Management; They visited the Neiva Bertha Hernández de Ospina Botanical Garden Park, where they were able to appreciate different species of birds, through the trails, a very striking experience for this working group, in addition to their commitment to contributing to this global effort.
The Global Big Day is an annual celebration of the birds that surround humanity, no matter where in the world the community is, everyone can help celebrate World Migratory Bird Day and share the images that can be capture. Participating is easy, all it takes is spending 5-10 minutes, reporting sightings to the eBird website online or on the free eBird Mobile app.
Last month, Global Big Day brought together birders from virtually more countries than ever before, with more than 51,000 people from 201 nations submitting 132,000 checklists to eBird, setting new world records for a single day of birding.
