Participation in the XXVIII RECLA International Meeting

The María Cano University Foundation, with the rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras and the vice-rector Carlos Julio Escobar Noreña, present at the 2023 International Meeting, entitled Design and innovation in continuing education focused on people, designed in person and taking place between October 3 and 6 in the city of Barcelona, Spain. The activity analyzes different challenges of higher education in the new 21st century; among them: the promotion of immersive, memorable, truly people-centered learning strategies; the evolution of online training and hybrid and digital learning models, towards participatory, collaborative and social models; the focus on the participant, their learning and development, through the use of active and experiential methodologies; the intensive use of disruptive technologies: artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality; the use of microcredentials as an element of value and lever for employability and consolidation of competencies and skills; the development of soft-skills, power skills or global transversal competencies; the integration of continuing education in lifelong learning, as well as formal learning, in organizational and social learning ecosystems; as well as the linking of continuous training with the 2030 SDGs, and the commitment to coverage throughout society.
More than 3,500 academics, 11 countries and 420 speakers actively participate in this XXVIII RECLA International Meeting with the objective of learning about the trends and transformation of continuing education, connecting with world-renowned experts, identifying resources for improving teaching-learning, learning and share university experiences in continuing education, collaborate with peers and institutions on common challenges and consolidate inter-institutional relationships and joint work agreements.
The University of Barcelona, which is the main public institution in Catalonia, and one of the most recognized in the Spanish state; a reference, not only in terms of innovation and excellence in the fields of teaching and academic research, but also for its character as an urban, cosmopolitan university open to the world; is one of the hosts of the meeting of academic leaders of the world. In addition, the work of the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia is also highlighted, which is a private institution with a vocation for public service with a board of trustees made up of representatives of public authorities, companies and social agents. With more than 18,000 students, more than 1,500 teachers, 63 official degrees, 31 research groups and 15 chairs, it combines its roots in its area of territorial influence in the center of Catalonia with a clear vocation for international projection.
