On August 24 and 25, the María Cano University Foundation hosted a visit by collaborative peers as part of its journey toward multi-campus institutional accreditation. This process of guidance, feedback, and technical validation made it possible to analyze the institution’s progress regarding the conditions required for a future formal evaluation by the National Accreditation Council (CNA), within a pedagogical framework focused on learning, continuous improvement, and institutional strengthening.

During the visit, the institution welcomed Mr. Álvaro Campo Cabal and Mr. Fernando Cantor Rincón—distinguished academics with extensive experience in various higher education institutions across the country and in processes involving the National Accreditation Council. Their participation fostered dialogue and analysis regarding María Cano’s key progress, strengths, and opportunities for improvement in pursuing this institutional goal.

The visit was led from Medellín by Rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras—spearheading the multi-campus institutional accreditation process—with the support of vice-rectors, the Planning and Quality Department, leaders from various institutional areas, and the leadership teams from the Cali, Neiva, and Popayán campuses. This coordinated effort enabled a comprehensive review of the work the Institution is carrying out across its various campuses and management dimensions.

The analysis covered the 12 accreditation factors: institutional identity; institutional governance and transparency; institutional development, management, and sustainability; continuous improvement and self-regulation; academic structure and processes; contributions in research, innovation, technological development, and creative work; social impact; national and institutional visibility; institutional well-being; the faculty community; the student community; and the alumni community. Reviewing these factors made it possible to identify progress achieved and to strengthen the actions forming part of the institutional improvement roadmap.

This work reaffirms the María Cano University Foundation’s commitment to quality and continuous improvement—a commitment reflected in the expansion of its academic offerings, the achievement of seven high-quality accreditations for academic programs, the strengthening of its physical infrastructure nationwide, its financial stability, and sustained progress along the path toward multi-campus institutional accreditation.
