- 8 septiembre, 2025

The María Cano University Foundation and the María Cano Health Provider Institution (IPS) joined the 21st Cycling Medicáncer Festival, one of the largest indoor sports events in Medellín, which brought together more than 1,200 athletes from the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley. This festival not only promoted physical activity and sports but also became an opportunity to highlight the essential role of the physiotherapist in the recovery and physical well-being processes of athletes.
The Physiotherapy program at the María Cano University Foundation actively participated in the event through its students, who put into practice the knowledge acquired in the classroom. This type of setting allows future professionals to face real-life situations, strengthening their education and developing skills to intervene effectively in the prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
The physiotherapist plays a key role in supporting athletes, helping to restore functionality, relieve pain, and improve performance through specialized techniques. Additionally, their intervention is crucial to minimizing the risk of new injuries, promoting a safe and sustainable return to physical activity. The participation of the students in this festival reaffirms the institution’s commitment to social responsibility and community outreach, demonstrating expertise and quality in training competent professionals prepared for real-world challenges.
These types of activities integrate theory and practice, strengthening health education and promoting a positive impact on the quality of life for athletes and the community at large.
