Physiotherapy Program in Neiva and Cali begins initial conditions for Accreditation

A new and excellent news on the search for quality and continuous improvement in The Maria Cano. The Rectory Committee has received notification of the National Council of Accreditation –Known in Spanish as CNA. The initial conditions are gathered to begin the processes of self-evaluation for the purpose of accreditation of Physiotherapy program in Neiva and Cali campuses, as it is projected in the Plan of Development 2017 – 2026 «Building Future».
The notification is given after the visits made by the counselors Helmuth Trefftz Gómez and Fernando Cantor Rincón, on September 18th and 20th, to the campuses located in the capitals of Huila (SNIES 8093) and Valle de Cauca (SINES 8091).
The National Accreditation Council highlights the institutional and program strengths, which demonstrate the constant commitment to quality and allow admission into the National Accreditation System in these cities, where committed, demanding and responsible work are evident and demonstrate the existence of a university community that works together, with a defined aim, which responds to the demands of education according to the guidelines established by the National Government of the Republic of Colombia.
Key aspects for the process of High Quality Accreditation were taken into account, such as the coherence of the institutional philosophy with the presence in different regions of the country, where professionals with critical thinking, social commitment and glocal vision are at the service of society.
In addition, the CNA stands out in its report:
- The Institutional Wellness Area for itrs important range of activities, involving cultural, sports, health, human development, socio-economic promotion topics and strategies to prevent desertion and which are essential in the commitment assumed with society as a Higher Education Institution.
- The existence of an updated, precise, disseminated and socialized regulation with the entire university community, which allows students, teachers, graduates, collaborators and external public to know the institutional activities.
- Increase the number of teachers, with access to constant qualification, the existence of a clearly defined, disclosed and transparently applied teaching hierarchy, which guarantees access to an increasingly competent comprehensive education.
- Processes of internationalization and agreements with educational institutions in different countries; through which interaction with different cultures is allowed, which are synonymous with quality and pertinence.
- Constant communication, and integration process, so that the directors of The Maria Cano can hear and value the needs of future professionals.
- An evident policy of participation of the university community members in the different governing bodies, which allows to establish improvement actions at all times, through dialogue and healthy university debate.
- Incentives and proposals that favor the recognition and exaltation of students who stand out in cultural and sports activities; as well as accompaniment programs and benefits for teachers and employees of the Institution.
- Integral formation of the students from the first semesters with social projects oriented to incorporate aspects of the nature of the program to serve to vulnerable communities in the regions, from the first years to the third age, that respond to the name and actions of the inspirer: Maria de los Angeles Cano Marquez.
- Research projects and products through the Fisioter Group, recognized and classified in Colciencias; the participation of researchers with social commitment and vision of the world is highlighted, taking into account local, regional and national needs.
- Recognition by employers of the delivery to society of suitable and ideal professionals for the development of Colombia, where human quality is one of the differentiating factors that allow the constant linkage of graduates to the productive sector.
- Own physical spaces, in constant evolution that facilitate the missionary functions of the program, in relation to classrooms, laboratories, computer rooms, zones for teachers, administrative offices and places for healthy relaxation.
In this way the Maria Cano University Foundation is authorized to begin the process of self-evaluation for the purpose of Accreditation of its Physiotherapy program in the cities of Neiva and Cali, which has been known for its leadership and commitment to society for more than two decades.
Rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras and his team congratulate the university community of Neiva and Cali for this outstanding news that adds to the authorization for the start of the accreditation process of the program in the city of Popayan, notified on last September 24.
The Maria Cano once again demonstrates the constant commitment to quality in all institutional actions, while ratifying its decision to continue working for the strengthening of higher education in Colombia.
