Positive balance of National Accreditation Council visit to Popayán Physiotherapy

After three days of continuous work in the capital of the department of Cauca, the rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras, accompanied by the Academic Vice-rector, Jorge Albeiro Herrera Builes; the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Amilbia Palacios Córdoba; the campus coordinator Angélica María Zuluaga Calle and the entire work team and academic, administrative and extension support and social projection, at the national and campus level; closed the visit to the peers of the CNA, Zulma Zubieta Rojas and Martha Liliana Hijuelos Cárdenas.
The agenda analyzed and looked at fundamental issues in the process of accreditation of the Physiotherapy program, such as presentation of the faculty, presentation of the physiotherapy program, communications management, presentation of the program’s self-assessment methodology, self-assessment results, improvement plan derived from the self-assessment, PEP, curricular reform, aspects related to academic processes, internships, students, professors, research and innovation and entrepreneurship, graduates, extension and social projection, international relations, Mariacanovirtual campus, library and bibliographic resources, laboratories , physical infrastructure of the venue, institutional well-being scenarios, practice scenarios, planning and quality, institutional and program financial infrastructure.
The visit ended with a verbal report to the rector, in which great institutional strengths and the Physiotherapy program in the city of Popayán were highlighted:
- The program is faithful to the guidelines of the institutional philosophy.
- The commitment and diligent behavior of the entire university community.
- Transparency, the common denominator in all the meetings held.
- Pertinence of the program in the region and the recognition of the external sector.
- The coverage of the program by having students from all regions.
- Research results with project results that add value to professional practice.
- The own physical plant and the future projection of institutional development.
- The process of own pedagogical construction that articulates the entire academy and the accompaniment to the student.
- The clear articulation between social projection, research and teaching that allows graduates to reflect their recognition in professional actions and entrepreneurship.
- The agreements that are held for leisure and recreational activities through institutional welfare.The “I love you at the U” program and its impact on students.
- The work environment and job stability in the permanence of teachers and administrators, as will as permanent improvements in the recruitment process.
- The institutional policy of incentives through the generation of benefits that are recognized as emotional salary.
- Information systems for the development of missionary activities.
- Quality certification processes as support for institutional activities.
- The relationship with the graduates and the identity they have with the Institution.
- The social inclusion policy that directly impacts the entire internal and external community.
- The regional impact and the transformation in the quality of life of the communities.
- The leadership of the Popayán physiotherapy management team and the headquarters coordination.
- The positioning of the program in the region.
- The excellent concept that students have of their teachers.
- The ability for students to recognize the advantages of belonging to an accredited program.
In this way, the commitment of the María Cano University Foundation to permanent quality and to meeting all the goals outlined in the 2017 – 2026 Development Plan «Building the Future» is evidenced. In the next few days, the CNA visits will be for the Psychology programs in Medellin, Physiotherapy in Neiva and Physiotherapy in Cali.
