Precision Technology Strengthens Neurological Rehabilitation Research
- 24 junio, 2026
Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Popayán Campus, continues to strengthen its commitment to applied research and innovation in healthcare through a theoretical-practical workshop on the use of the GYKO PRO inertial system, a specialized technology that enhances biomechanical assessment processes and supports research aimed at improving people’s quality of life.
The activity was designed for faculty members, students, and researchers involved in the project “Creation of a Database for the Analysis of Upper Limb Recovery Trajectories Following Stroke”, an initiative focused on generating scientific evidence about functional recovery processes in individuals who have experienced a stroke. The project seeks to contribute to the development of increasingly precise and effective rehabilitation strategies.

During the workshop, 16 participants received training in the use of this high-precision technological tool, capable of analyzing variables such as joint mobility, movement fluency, and muscle strength. The information generated through these systems provides a deeper understanding of motor recovery processes, supporting clinical decision-making and strengthening research conducted under rigorous scientific standards.
Beyond the development of technical competencies, the workshop also facilitated progress in the standardization of assessment protocols, a key factor in ensuring the validity, reliability, and comparability of data collected in future studies. This process represents an important step toward strengthening research capacities and advancing knowledge in strategic areas of neurological rehabilitation.
The initiative demonstrates how the integration of technology, research, and academic training can generate innovative solutions to current healthcare challenges. It also reaffirms Fundación Universitaria María Cano’s commitment to producing applied knowledge, training researchers, and promoting projects that positively impact the well-being of individuals and communities.
Through initiatives such as this, the Institution continues to promote socially meaningful research, transforming scientific evidence into opportunities for recovery, autonomy, and improved quality of life for people undergoing rehabilitation processes.
