The María Cano University Foundation was present at the Palermo 2022 Expouniversities Event, in the municipality of this municipality in the department of Huila, where the academic offer in the different higher education institutions in that city was presented to the students of the different educational institutions. area of ​​Colombia, so that they can learn about the proposals, the differences between the programs and the benefits they offer to future students. Palermo is located in the northwest of the department of Huila and is part of the Andean region, located in the upper part of the Magdalena valley, to the east of the Central mountain range and is part of the subnorth region of the department. Its territorial extension is 917 km², its height is 690 meters above sea level and its average temperature is 27 ° centigrade.

It has a population of 34,987 inhabitants according to the DANE projection for the year 2019. The agricultural and commercial sector are one of the most important lines in the municipality’s economy, with coffee and rice being the most prominent crops. In addition, the extraction of hydrocarbons, marble, limestone and dolomites used as raw material in obtaining resources from the agricultural sector and industrial purposes. In its territory is the Amboco zone: one of the industrial zones of the developing department located near the capital Neiva. It is known as the Marble Municipality of Huila.

Under this initiative, the visibility of the Speech Therapy and Physiotherapy programs is consolidated, as well as virtual training in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, socializing the benefits and qualities of training at María Cano. An important event that allows expanding the coverage of educational programs in the region.
