Present at the discussion and at the ACESAD assembly

The María Cano University Foundation with the representation of the head of virtuality, Claudia Patricia Vásquez Lopera, was present at the discussion and the XXXI general Assembly of the Colombian Association of Higher Education Institutions with Distance and Virtual Programs – ACESAD. During the activity, the management reports and the action plan were presented that will allow the integration of the HEIs to continue to consolidate strategies that qualify the excellence of the distance and virtual programs. The assembly took place at UNAD with its president Dr. Jaime Alberto Leal Afanador and the participation of the board of directors and other affiliated HEIs. It is worth noting that María Cano is part of the board of directors in the Caribbean zone Vice Presidency headed by the rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras.
In the discussion «Educational quality and regulatory implementation in distance education and virtual learning environments», the main changes that the decree that has been built with citizen consultations that include suggestions from the HEIs and needs of the territories to expand the academic offer in hybrid, distance and virtual modalities.
In this space, experts such as Dr. Iván Enrique Ramos Calderón – president of RIACES, Dr. Jaime Alberto Leal Afanador – president of ACESAD, AIESAD and Rector of UNAD, Dr. Martha Hernández – Advisor to the Management participated. of Quality of the Ministry of National Education, and Dr. Miller Antonio Pérez Lasprilla – Advisor to the Vice Minister of Higher Education.
The discussion began with an introduction about the evolution of educational quality and its relationship with distance education and virtual learning environments and then focused on the challenges and opportunities that the implementation of the new regulations for these educational models will have. Some of the aspects of emphasis for reflection were communicative interactions, the scope of the hybrid modality, flexibility in the place of offering of the programs in the territories, autonomous learning, situated learning, learning to learn, mediation pedagogical, curricular flexibility, among others.
Without a doubt, the new regulations become an opportunity for us at María Cano to continue strengthening the pedagogical mediation model with the use of ICT, the Mariacanovirtual campus and the offer of virtual programs in the territories with the educational quality that from the autonomy and Confidence is challenged by the new regulations of the Ministry of National Education.
