President ACIET reflects on the future of higher education

In the most difficult moments of a couple’s relationships, or in work teams, it is when values, commitment and goals are put to the test. If these are not well founded, instead of adding, it is subtracted, the separation arrives and the roads move apart. If, on the contrary, trust, the recognition of the other or others and the appreciation of their abilities prevail, the union will be more solid, new projects will appear and reaching the goal will be much faster.
A similar situation occurs in our so-called Higher Education System, made up of the National Government, Higher Education Institutions (IES) and control and development agencies, among many others. Beyond the diversity of the academy itself, and the free development that the law, the market and university autonomy have allowed us to consolidate (universities, university institutions, technological schools, technological institutions, professional technical institutions, main and sectional, public and private, accredited or not, face-to-face, distance and virtual, capital and provincial, teaching vocation and investigative vocation, popular and elite …), all HEIs, as well as the associations that bring them together, and As public officials at the service of Colombian Higher Education, we have the legal, professional, moral and country commitment to work as a team to make our higher education a system that aims to achieve the objectives defined in Law 30 of 1992.
