For the Directorate of the Physiotherapy program at the Medellín campus, the Faculty of Health Sciences and the FISIOTER Research group, it is an honor to share with the María Cano university community, the excellent achievement of Professor Javier Ignacio García Correa, who has just received Honorable Mention with distinction Summa Cum Laude in his Doctorate thesis at the University of Baja California, with the title «Adapted Sport through Physical Rehabilitation in People with Spinal Trauma», with the results of this rigorous thesis work, the Professor will obtain the degree of Doctor in Sports Education and Sports Sciences.

The research developed by Professor Javier Ignacio, had the participation in the sample of Paralympic Athletes from Colombia, Mexico and Peru; The results represent a great scientific and current contribution to the field of Physiotherapy. On the other hand, it is important to note that the Methodological Direction of this PhD thesis was carried out by Professor Ricardo León Sánchez Arenas, who belongs to the Business Administration program and is a researcher of the SUMAR group.
