Psychology reflects on its professional practices

On October 24 and 25, the students and advisory teachers of the Psychology program of the María Cano University Foundation, attached to the Faculty of Health Sciences, actively participated in the academic activity called: «Reflections on practices in psychology ”, an event that included the participation of the Professor of the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Andrés Amariles, with whom the students were able to observe the challenges of clinical practice, especially in the service teaching model.
Additionally, the presentation «New forms of work» was presented by the director of the Andrés Felipe Londoño Vélez program, where the new forms of work, behavior and human management in professional practice were addressed and it was possible to show that Each activity was enriched with conversations about the demands of the practices in their different occupational fields by the new professionals who graduate from this program that studies the behavior and relationships of the human being from a biopsychosocial approach, with the intention of generating a balance in the areas where it intervenes: organizational, clinical, educational and community social. It is important to highlight that the performance of the professional in Psychology tends to respond to the demand, the needs of the moment and the advances of new technologies that allow active participation in the processes of transformation and change in the country.
In the academic activity and exchange of knowledge, a question was generated by the students, becoming one of the central axes of reflection: What does society expect from a psychologist?
The María Cano University Foundation continues to work on the training of suitable and suitable professionals who are committed to the future of the country, the development of society and coherence with the principles of respect, equity, excellence, leadership, transparency and responsibility.
