Recognition of the best students of the period 2021-I

In accordance with the provisions of the institutional regulations, the rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras, praised the students who obtained the best academic average in the first semester of the current year, after the careful and respective analyzes carried out by the Faculty Councils and the Academic Council of María Cano. According to Agreement No. 060 of the Superior Council of September 27, 2017 by means of which the Academic Regulations are adopted, in Chapter XIII Stimuli, article 67 establishes to grant scholarship to academic excellence to the three undergraduate students of each program , who achieve the highest academic average in the immediately preceding period.
The Academic Regulations establish as requirements for obtaining the Scholarship for Academic Excellence to have registered and approved, without qualifying, all the subjects that make up the study plan within the respective academic period. Students who have only registered the practice, are not repeating subjects, accredit in said academic period an average of not less than four and five (4.5), that there is a favorable opinion on the part of the Faculty Council for this recognition, not having been disciplined and that the average of the periods taken is not less than four (4.0).
Likewise, article 69 establishes the Honorable Mention for the Postgraduate student who, having completed the entire academic program at the institution, has obtained the highest cumulative average higher than four with seven (4.7). The results were the following:
Excellence Scholarship – First Place:
Laura Sofía Zapata Velásquez and Karen Daniela Herreño López from the Physiotherapy program, Evelin Tatiana Fernández Ríos from the Speech Therapy program, José Tobías Úsuga Ferraro from Psychology, Johana Meliza Álvarez Jaramillo and Sandra Milena Toro Muñoz from Business Administration, Miguel Ángel Upegui Restrepo and Juan Pablo Ruiz Bonilla from Public Accounting, Yeison Andrés Rúa Del Río from the Software Engineering program.
Excellence Scholarship – Second Place:
Laura Rivera Cano from Physiotherapy, Daniela Sierra Yepes from Speech Therapy, Katherin Castañeda Córdoba from Psychology, Valentina Colorado Bedoya and Lina Marcela Ruiz Board of Business Administration, Laura Patricia Lopera Posada and Amanda Ortega Adrada from Public Accounting, Jorge Luis Pájaro Suárez from the Software Engineering.
Excellence Scholarship – Third place:
Andrea Parra Chavarría from Physiotherapy, Paulina Mejía Ramírez from Speech Therapy, Claudia Yurany Rivera Cardona from Psychology, María José Osorio Villa and Juan David García Méndez from Business Administration, Luisa Fernanda Montoya Gómez and Laura María Jaramillo Agudelo from Public Accounting, Maicol Andrés Betancur Suaza and Thomás Restrepo Orrego from the Software Engineering program.
In postgraduate studies, the winners of Honorable Mention, in style note, were: Weimar Cortés Montiel from the Occupational Health Management Specialization and Julieth Andrea Rodríguez Vargas from the Comprehensive Early Childhood Care Specialization.
The ceremony was held virtually, keeping biosafety measures, social distancing and with the participation of all the venues in the country: Medellín, Cali, Neiva and Popayán. In addition, it was accompanied by the Vice-Rectors of María Cano, Deans, Program Directors and Headquarters Coordinators.
The María Cano scholarship to excellence grants for first place the exemption of 100% of the payment of tuition fees in the following semester, for the second place the exemption of 50% of the payment of tuition fees in the following semester and for the third place the exemption of 30% of the payment of the tuition fees in the next level. In the case of honorable mentions in postgraduate studies, María Cano grants the value of 100% the degree rights of future specialists.
