Reference visit for training in virtual environments

The rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras, accompanied by the vice-chancellors Jorge Albeiro Herrera Builes and Carlos Julio Escobar Noreña, made a special visit to the headquarters of the National Open and Distance University, in the city of Bogotá, where they met with the rector Jaime Alberto Leal Afanador and the academic vice-rector Constanza Abadía García. The objective of the meeting of the academic authorities of both institutions was to learn about the pedagogical model of that Institution that impacts more than 180,000 students at a national level in 65 campuses located in 29 departments of the country, which impact the actions of 1,016 Colombian municipalities.
The topics discussed, on which an important constructive dialogue was generated, were: good academic management practices, innovation in university and curricular management issues, monitoring models for applicants, students and graduates, as well as the technological ecosystem for The learning. All these aspects are a fundamental part of the constant quality process of the UNAD that allowed the achievement of high quality institutional accreditation.
It is important to highlight that the National Open and Distance University has been recognized in the country as the first public mega-university in Colombia accredited in high quality and by virtue of this it is positioned as a social educational project that tends to improve the quality of life of its community and continuously works to guarantee a relevant offer to respond to the needs of glocal citizens. This recognized reputation is recognized by the directors of María Cano, for which an outstanding relationship and matching work is carried out in good practices that will benefit the entire university community.
María Cano assumes challenges and commitments that will allow us to continue working, continuously, in the diversification of the academic offer and expansion of the training project, as projected in the 2017 – 2026 Development Plan «Building the Future».
