- 1 noviembre, 2019

Researchers Elizabeth Roldan González, Adriana Patricia Camayo and Angélica María Zuluaga from the Popayán’s branch of the FISIOTER group, received an award as the first place in training research for the research “Guide for a university volunteer based on learning – service at the María Cano University Foundation Popayán’s branch” at the IX Latin American Congress of academics in Physiotherapy and Kinesiology.
The project aimed to design a university volunteer program based on learning – service at the María Cano Popayán University Foundation, taking into account that the department of Cauca is multi-cultural, rich in biodiversity, but it has also been plunged for more 55 years in deep conflicts of violence, subjected to an abandonment of the state in various aspects which led to be first departmental places regarding NBI and complex social problems: (I. Gini: 0.56). It has also been plagued by natural disasters and a great value crisis.
The María Cano University Foundation, has been present in the capital city Popayán for 23 years and as an organization committed to the social, is called to define its role in such rationality, not only training professionals who will move forward the economic dimension of the society, but as human subjects, able to identify the expected changes in other social, cultural, political and environmental dimensions within their professional role; which means proposing new ways of designing a better world through interdisciplinarity and social sensitivity. That’s how this project arises having as goal to join various efforts carried out within the program, which are carried out in a disjointed manner; besides, they do not have a baseline from which an impact monitoring can be carried out. The project also seeks to initiate a systematic program on the foundation of learning – service and social entrepreneurship to support the most needy vulnerable population both inside and outside the Institution. The project aspires to be institutionally adopted, of which no background is found .
This award is a sign of the institutional commitment not only with research, but with Social projection.
