Speech Therapy Medellín with High Quality Accreditation

The Ministry of National Education issued Resolution No. 004913 of April 16, 2024, through which it grants High Quality Accreditation to the Speech Therapy program of the María Cano University Foundation, Medellín headquarters, for a period of six years.
The National Accreditation Council, in its comprehensive evaluation, after analyzing the self-evaluations carried out by the Institution and the external evaluation reports carried out by recognized academic peers who visited the programs, recommended to the Ministry of National Education the accreditation of the Speech Therapy program in the city of Medellín, which demonstrates that quality levels have been achieved so that, in accordance with the governing standards, the High Quality Accreditation is granted.
The National Accreditation Council – CNA – exalted fundamental issues that highlight the actions of the program and María Cano, such as:
- The training of students who contribute to society their knowledge in the areas of language, speech, hearing and oral-pharyngeal function.
- The studies carried out periodically by the program aimed at knowing the trends and development of the discipline to understand the reality of the program in the region.
- Strategic alignment between the Educational Project of the program with the Institutional Development Plan 2017 – 2026 and the Institutional Educational Project.
- The teaching teams and their constant qualification, as well as their stability in María Cano and the promotion process.
- Dropout levels below the national average rate.
- Graduation figures for programs that are above the national average.
- The good performance of the students in the results of the Saber Pro state tests.
- Social projection through teaching, research and extension services, as well as welfare services, social research and consultancies carried out.
- The graduation rate of the program.
- The teaching-care services carried out through the IPS María Cano and the other agreements with practice centers, accredited IPS and strategic allies.
- The expansion of continuing training services in recent years, which is added to the participation in complementary training during the pandemic, supported by virtual courses, webinars, workshops and mirror classes for students and graduates.
- The student permanence program “I love you at the U”.
- The excellent results of the Fonotec research group that has seed growers, researchers in different modalities, publications in magazines, book chapters and books.
- The consolidation of the clinical practice system.
- The physical infrastructure and technology, the laboratories, the computer rooms and the different institutional settings for professional training.
- A growing mobility, incoming and outgoing, at a national and international level, thanks to agreements with different institutions in Colombia and the world.
- The relationship with graduates and impact studies that allow us to carry out and lead constant improvement plans.
- Institutional well-being services that facilitate the work and academic environment for all members of the university community.
- Seriousness in the administration of the financial resources that support institutional actions.
The academic and administrative team of the María Cano University Foundation expresses its great satisfaction with this recognition of the high quality of the Medellín Speech Therapy program. The Institution is currently awaiting the results of the visit carried out, in the course of accreditation, to the Physiotherapy program at the Neiva headquarters.
