Strategic planning of the #MásMaríaCano work with Uplanner
- 7 septiembre, 2021

The María Cano University Foundation received the visit of the engineers Mauricio Tarazona, Amilcar Escalante and Mario Sánchez belonging to the Uplanner firm, with the aim of monitoring the implementation of the modules that will support the information system that offers solutions for the analysis of data in the Institution. This system allows universities to achieve high performance, adding new resources to their strategic plan, always with the focus on ensuring the main quality indicators. In this process, María Cano acquired four modules to strengthen the information: Assessment, U-planning, U-retention and U-faculty. Each module and its contribution to the management of the academic and administrative processes of the Institution and the programs are described below:
Assessment: it is a continuous improvement tool that manages the information from the graduation profile, curricular meshes of study plans, programs and descriptive letters of each subject that allow the structuring of academic programs and for the fulfillment of the graduation profile of each Program. Likewise, the monitoring of skills and learning outcomes.
U-planning: supports the programs in the academic planning process. Generate student sections for each subject, perform different planning simulations and automatically assign teachers to each section with their respective schedule.
U-retention: early identifies students at risk of student dropout, making use of Machine Learning algorithms which are trained with historical student data, including personal, family, academic and payment behavior data, among others.
U-faculty: helps the faculty transform into a community of continuous improvement, where they can explicitly express the work they do, how they do it and their vision of how the institution can advance as a whole. It allows programs to monitor the work of each teacher and align it with their strategic plans.
The visit was led by the rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras, the academic vice-rector Jorge Albeiro Herrera Builes and the planning director Julia Milena Soto Montoya, where the experts praised the work carried out with María Cano as a successful experience that can be shared with other Institutions that also advance these projects.
